Chapter Problems:

Working through problems is the BESTway to learn the material in this
course. Work through as many end of chapter questions as you can.

Dropping the Course:

The last day to drop the course with a “W” if failing will be directly after the
results of Test 2 are known (~ March 27).

If you drop the course between the automatic drop date and ~ March 27 with
an average below 50, you will receive an “F”. Remember, in determining if
you have a passing average, any missed exams count as zeros. When
dropping the course, youare responsible for seeing that all of the proper
paperwork is completed and submitted to the appropriate university officials.

Strategies for Succeeding in Chemistry 1446:

1.
2.
3.

Prior to class, read the chapter which will be covered in lecture.
Attend every lecture.
Review your lecture notes after each class. Correct obvious errors and
note topics which require further study or clarification.
Work as many of the end of chapter problems as possible.
Use practice tests available from the Science Learning Center.
Spend the necessary amount of time studying chemistry. Try to spend
at least two hours a day reading over the text, reviewing your notes and
working practice problems.
Don’t procrastinate. These concepts take time to sink in, and you may
have to practice these exercises over a period of many days in order
master the necessary skills.
Form a study group. This is your first avenue for getting help. Be able to
communicate with each other on short notice, not just before class.
Make use of Dr. Hale’s office hours.
